Online Learners: Use of Other Libraries

The cooperative services we mention here may be suspended during the current restrictions.

Please check local procedures as the guidelines may be interpreted differently depending on staff numbers and the layout of the building.


The Eduroam service provides internet access for all students and staff of Higher Education Institutions. This means that you can use the WiFi at other colleges.

Once you authenticate your IT Sligo login details with the visiting network it will verify you as a registered student of IT Sligo and allow access.

Other Libraries

Institute's of Technology Libraries

On request, we can supply you with a Partners Card.  This will allow you to use any of the other Institute of Technology libraries for Reference Only around the country.

University Libraries

We can provide you with a letter of introduction which will allow you to use libraries of universities for reference purposes.  You should always check in advance if the library you wish to use is open when you intend to visit and if they are allowing external users on that day.

You will have to abide by their regulations and visitors may not be allowed during busy times. 

Reciprocal borrowing

Staff and students from IT Sligo may visit the libraries of the following institutions and borrow two items for one week from their normal borrowing collections:

  • Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT)
  • Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT)
  • Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT)
