Library Zones



The library building consists of three floors called zones:

  1.  Quiet Zone (top floor)
  2.  Info Zone (ground floor)
  3.  Learning Zone (lower ground floor)

Learning Zone

Location: Lower Ground Floor (lower level)

Activity:  Group Work

Open plan study area (books must be borrowed on your account before entering this area). Group study is permitted in the Learning Zone. However, conversations should be kept at a low volume, large disruptive groups will not be tolerated. 

Main features:

  • IT Services Helpdesk (available 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm Monday to Thursday, 10am-12pm Fridays in  Room 3)
  • Printer 
  • Special Collections Exhibition Space
  • 5 Study Rooms

Quiet Zone Map

Info Zone Details

The Info Zone holds the majority of the book stock and the Information Desk. The Quick Check is where you can check out your own books. We ask that you keep the noise levels to a medium on this floor so that noise does not travel upstairs.

  • Main Collection Books (all except languages and literature)
  • Restricted Loan Collection & Map Collection

Location: First Floor (top level)  Activity: Silent Study
