Library Induction 2020

New service - Ask a Librarian Chat

Library staff are available to answer your queries through our online help desk.

You may need a follow up appointment in Microsoft Teams or a quick answer might be what is required.

We are available 10-12 and 2-4 daily, this may increase depending on staff availability.

New service - Click and Collect

We will endevour to keep our print books in circulation through a new Click and Collect service.

You place a hold on the books you need in the library ctalogue. We retrieve them from the shelves and leave them in a paper bag for collection 24 hours later.

Collection of books is by appointment only, you choose your slot when the booking email is generated and you must present your ITS student/staff ID card on entering the library. Please follow the signs and instructions posted in the library.

As a gradual reopening this will be Mon and Tues 10-12 & Thurs and Fri 10-12 on  a trial basis for staff and post grad students.

This service will extend to undergraduate students from October 5th

All books must be returned through the library book bins which are located in the college foyer and inside the library entrance. Returned books will be quarantined for 72hrs before being checked in and shelved.

New service - Reserved study space

In line with the goverment guidelines a limited number of bookable study spaces will be available for silent study on Monday 5th October.

Covid declaration form must be completed at time of booking.

You are required to clean your study space before and after use with the cleaning products provided at the sanitising stations.

You must wear a face mask at all times. You must identify yourself to a library staff member on entry to the libary and produce an ITSligo ID Card.

Currently this does not include a pc.


Services that have been adapted


  • No access to the book or journal shelves - use Click and Collect service
  • Information desk queries through chat box or email
  • Only registered IT Sligo staff and students can visit the library
  • Quick check self service borrowing suspended 
  • Books to be returned through book bin only
  • No access to pc's, photocopying, printing or scanning in the library
  • Group study rooms cannot be booked at this time
